Sask Pork Announced NewGeneral Manager
Sask Pork Chairman Casey Smit and the Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Mark Ferguson accepted the position of General Manager for Sask Pork which was effective August 1.
Mark brings to the role 15 years of experience in the pork industry as Policy and Industry Development Manager for Sask Pork. He has been very involved in numerous industry growth initiatives and international cost of production studies during his time with the organization. Mark also brings a passion for the hog industry and a vision for ensuring long-term profitable pork production for our province’s producers.
He is a Professional Agrologist and attended the University of Saskatchewan graduating with a Master of Science in 2005 and Bachelor of Science in 2003.
Mark grew up on the family farm near Edgeley, Saskatchewan. He and his wife Jill have four children and reside in Saskatoon.
Mark replaces Neil Ketilson who is retiring this month from Sask Pork after 17 years as General Manager.
The Board of Directors and staff welcome Mark to the position and extend their appreciation to Neil for his 20+ years of dedicated service to the Saskatchewan pork industry. •

CPC Welcomes new Ambassador to China
The Canadian Pork Council anticipates a much-improved relationship with China following the nomination of Dominic Barton as the new ambassador to China. The CPC is pleased with the nomination of Dominic Barton.
The CPC looks forward to working with Mr. Barton to regain access to the Chinese market and continuing to contribute to growing agricultural exports to $75 billion by 2025. •

Old Time Farming Mindset Drives Success for Feed Industry Veteran
Doug Richards career that has spaned the better part of four decades, is highlighted by the rise of one of the world’s top feed technology companies – supporting farmers and their industries across Canada and beyond – is being celebrated. CBS Inc. has formally announced the retirement of industry veteran Doug Richards, the first sales rep hired by founder and president Owen Jones 27 years ago.
With a simple yet invaluable upbringing raised on a southern Alberta farm near the Canada / U.S. border at Cardston, Richards developed an appreciation for the special dedication and livelihood of farmers – most importantly, why innovations that make a real difference not only for the industry but to the profitability of the farmer are critical to a successful future.
Richards resides in Okotoks south of Calgary with his wife and enjoys spending time with the families of his seven children including 18 grandchildren. •
