Remarkable achievement for Canada Pork in Japan!
We’re proud to share that Canada Pork – Porc Canada was ranked #1 by volume in pork imports to Japan in 2024 (excluding offal and fat), based on official data from Japan’s Ministry of Finance.
A historic milestone—this marks the first time in over 40 years that Canada has held this position in the Japanese market.. This reflects the dedicated efforts of our team, partners and members in positioning the premium quality of Canadian pork on the global stage, driven by strong partnerships, consistent standards, and growing trust worldwide.

New Role for CMC & CP CEO
Our President and CEO, Christopher White, has accepted a new role to become President and CEO of the industry’s office opening August 1, 2025, in Beijing, China.
The Canadian Meat Advocacy Office has been in the works for the past two years and has support from a broad array of stakeholders, as well as the Canadian government. We are excited to see it launched and to strengthen the industry’s ties to China. Chris’s last day with CMC/CP was July 25th, 2025.
The search for Chris’s replacement is underway, and we expect to have a new CEO to announce early this fall.
As we wish Chris well and thank him for his years of service with CMC and CP, we welcome Nestor Plawiuk (Interm CEO) and look forward to his time leading the CMC. •
SIP Welcomes Alison Lee as Manager of Research Development
In mid June Swine Innovation Porc (SIP) was pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Lee as Manager of Research Development.
In her role, Lee will serve as a key liaison between SIP and the Canadian pork research community. Prior to joining SIP, she worked as the Researcher and Livestock Program Developer for Conestoga Meats, where she co-ordinated and managed research projects relating to meat quality, new technology development and animal welfare.
Lee comes to SIP with a long history of collaboration in the pork industry. Her career has spanned the globe including experience in Hanau, Germany, as Research Manager in Swine Nutrition and Health for Evonik Operations GmbH. She also holds a PhD and B.Sc. from the University of Guelph, where her thesis investigated supplementation in sow diets and its effects on piglet health.

DanBred NA Expands Team
We’re pleased to welcome Jack Porter as our new Sales & Service Representative for Western Canada and Montana, USA. Based in the region, Jack will be working closely with customers across Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Montana.
Jack comes from a farming background and brings hands-on experience from all areas of swine production, including swine genetics. His experience gives him a strong understanding for what matters most on the farm, and he’s the kind of person who listens carefully and goes the extra mile to help.
