Olymel Reach For The Top Awards
During the recent banquet at Alberta Pork Congress the winners of each category of Olymels RFFT awards were presented. Here is a list of the top five in each category.
Food Safety: Champion Byemoor Colony, 1st runner up Parkland Colony, 2nd runner up Erskine Colony, 3rd runner up Sunnybend Colony and 4th runner up Britestone Colony.
Core Category: Champion Bently Colony, 1st runner up Whitesand Farming Co Ltd, 2nd runner up Birch Meadows Colony, 3rd runner up Birch Hills Colony and 4th runner up Prentiss Pork Farm.
High Health: Champion A & A Van Ginkel Farm, 1st runner up Birch Hills Colony, 2nd runner up Hughenden Colony – Barn #2, 3rd runner up Prentiss Pork Farm and 4th runner up Twlight Colony.
Logistics: Champion Erskine Colony, 1st runner up Sunnybend Colony, 2nd runer up Bently Colony, 3rd runner up Outlook Farms Ltd and 4th runner up Parkland Colony.

Stiles, Hofstede win CAHI Awards
Dr. Enid Stiles has won this year’s Canadian Animal Health Industry’s Industry Leader Award and Dr. Tamara Hofstede the 2023 CAHI Chair’s Award.
Dr. Stiles’ started Sherwood Park Animal Hospital in 2009 and was a founding member and is a past president of Veterinarians Without Borders/Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (VWB/VSF) Canada.
She is also a past president of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and has been named Chair of the World Veterinary Association’s Communications Committee for 2023.
She has advocated for animal health in print, television, radio, and social media.
“I believe a big part of leadership is about inspiring and empowering others to achieve their goals. If anything comes from my career, I hope that I inspired even one person to follow their dreams,” she said.
“For me, what industry has meant recently is partnerships. These collaborative efforts have truly blossomed during these times of true crisis in our profession and the animal health industry has been at the forefront of innovation,” Dr. Stiles said.
The CAHI Chair’s Award was created to recognize the significant contributions made by its individual members.
Dr. Hofstede is regulatory advisor for Elanco Canada Ltd. And has made “exemplary contributions to the CAHI and its objectives,” the organization said, adding that she “has been a phenomenal champion for the Canadian animal health industry, always ready to tackle complex regulatory issues, and a significant contributor to any number of CAHI initiatives.”
For the past two years she has been Chair of the CAHI Task Group on Quebec’s Regulation Respecting the terms and conditions for the sale of medication.
She said “it is always a pleasure to work with the CAHI team and the member companies, whether it’s providing feedback on regulatory changes, promoting issues that impact animal and human well-being or supporting growth and innovation in the Canadian landscape.” •
