Gather, Grill, Give Back: HyLife Fires Up “Grillin’ for Good” Charity BBQ Circuit Across Manitoba
This summer, HyLife took the grill on the road. The company is launching Grillin’ for Good, a travelling charity BBQ circuit that will bring chef-prepared meals featuring HyLife Premium Pork to select locations across Manitoba. Designed as a summer road trip with purpose, the campaign will pair great food with local giving – creating a fun, family-friendly experience while raising support for food banks and charity partners.
Built around the theme “Gather, Grill, Give Back,” the circuit will stop in areas across Manitoba, bringing HyLife’s new branded food truck to retail locations and key gathering spaces. Guests will be able to enjoy premium pork dishes while supporting causes that make a difference close to home. All proceeds from each stop will go directly to local food banks and participating charity partners.
Each stop will include interactive games, family activities, prize giveaways, and space for charity and retail organizations to connect with attendees.
A $3000 FUSION 36 Gas Grill will be given away as a grand prize, generously donated by Black Earth Grills.
HyLife worked with four charity partners as part of the circuit:

Congratulations Harry
Harry Siemens received a Special Recognition Award for North American Farm Reporting Excellence, reflecting his long record of clear, dependable reporting across the farm sector. Presented in recognition as part of his commitment to honouring excellence in farm communication.
I’m deeply honoured and humbled… After more than 55 years in agricultural journalism, Harry Siemens said receiving the North American Farm Reporting Excellence Award was both humbling and deeply personal.
The longtime Canadian farm broadcaster and freelance journalist said the recognition meant even more because it was inspired by the mentors who helped shape his career.
“It was so meaningful because it came from three people who mentored me throughout my career,” Siemens said.
Today, Siemens continues writing for several agricultural publications and plans to keep doing so for as long as he is able. •

Congratulations 2025 Kenlis Cup Winner
Many congratulations to Peter, Joshua, Jordan, and the helpers at Armada Farming Hog Operation, repeat winners of Hypor’s Kenlis Cup! There were many excellent farms from across the Americas enrolled in Hypor’s annual sow productivity benchmark, so to come in at the top of this group is no small feat. Weaning an average of 35.96 quality pigs per sow over the course of a year doesn’t happen by accident, rather it’s the result of excellent management, well maintained facilities, and strong health, nutrition, and genetic programs. Special mention to Western Ag, who have been feeding the Armada Hog Operation for 10+ years. On the Hypor sow, Joshua Mandel comments, “The Hypor sow has proven herself here as production has gone from about 29 to just under 36 in the 7 years since switching to Hypor.” And “We like how calm they are, the only thing that rivals this sow’s production might be her offspring’s taste!” Keep up the amazing work, Team Armada!
Armada Colony was founded in Southern Alberta, Canada in 1999 and is home to 32 families. In addition to hogs, Armada Farming Co. also runs an expanding dairy enterprise and farms over 20,000 acres, mostly barley, wheat, canola, and lentils. •

SASK Pork Welcomes New Team Members

We are happy to welcome Hannah Burlet as our Ag Education Coordinator.
Originally from Calgary, Hannah moved to Saskatoon to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience through the College of Agriculture and Bioresources at the University of Saskatchewan. She has completed her Master of Science in Large Animal Clinical Science (Swine Health) through the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in collaboration with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
She is passionate about communicating how Saskatchewan pork producers use best management practices to rear healthy, high value pigs. Hannah also works in the Knowledge Transfer department at Prairie Swine Centre Inc.

Sask Pork is excited to have Khadija Jimoh step into the Financial Administrator role.
Khadija holds previous experience in accounting and bookkeeping with large mining and energy companies across Saskatchewan.
She completed her Bachelor of Science in Financial Accounting from National Open University in Nigeria and Post-Grad Diploma in Business Management from Sask Polytech. •
