Corey French from Perlich Auctions ran the live auction.

Alberta Livestock Expo show organizer Chris Tokaruk was pleased to have a problem fitting in a few extra booths. “This is the largest show ever with 102 exhibitors,” Chris added. “We look forward to having you all back next year for an even bigger and better Alberta Livestock Expo, save the date for 2026 Wednesday October 14th and Thursday October 15th.”
The aisles were filled with chatter and conversations from existing client relationships and some new ones forming as well.
Exhibitors seems pleased with the traffic flow, as one said it only takes a few leads to make these shows worthwhile. While some industries have moved to more online shopping the Ag sector still find tons of value seeing their customers face to face.
One of the highlights of the show is the Pork Quality Competition and all those who benefit from it.
This year the twenty-nine Colonies and a farm that collectively donated thirty-three hog to be entered into the Pork Quality Competition were: Albion Ridge, Armada, AVE Farms, Big Bend, Blue Ridge, Crystal Springs, Delco, East Cardston, East Raymond, Fox Valley, Gold Spring, Green Acres, Hutterville, Keho Lake, Kingsland, Lakeside, Little Bow, Livingstone, Miltow, Neu Muehl, New York, Prairie Holm, Roseglen, Spring Point North, Spring Point South, Standoff, Starbrite, Vita, Willow Creek and Wolf Creek.
Together these thirty-three hogs created 2828 kgs (6221 lbs.) of pork that was donated to the Lethbridge and Interfaith food banks.
The top five were 5th place Hutterville Colony, 4th was Miltow Colony, 3rd Livingstone Colony, 2nd to Kingsland Colony and taking top honours in 1st place was Keho Lake Colony.
The top five carcasses were once again auctioned off, with all funds raised from auction and carcass cooler sponsorships going to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Crowd gathers before the winners are announced.

Corey French from Perlich auctioneers handled the live auction, with Jim Bourret from Canada Packers assisting with the big calls.
Winning bidders were: Connect on Farm for 5th place Hutterville, Sollio for 4th place Miltow, Fortified for both 3rd place Livingstone and 2nd place Kingsland in 1st place Keho Lake purchased by WAGS. A total of $30,200 was raised and donated to RMHC. Veronica Smith of RMHC was on hand to share some staggering statistics of how many people have used their facilities. She gladly informed those in attendance that with donations and fundraising they have expanded the Calgary house from 30 beds to 90.
Together again the hog sector gives back to communities.
Chris thanked all sponsors, exhibitors, attendees and added special thanks to Jim & Soren and Canada Packers Team for making the Pork Quality Competition and auction possible.
