PEAK Swine Genetics is celebrating its twentieth year in business.
PEAK began in 1995 from five founding nucleus herds represented by Rennie Heare, Walter Preugschas, Jurgen Preugschas, Keith Rasmuson and Barry Reiter as shareholders and directors. The company’s base is a group of highly successful purebred swine breeders who have combined their talents, superior genetics, and marketing goodwill into this outstanding undertaking.

Canadian Bio-Systems Welcomes New Technical Services Manager
Canadian Bio-Systems Inc. has announced the addition of a new technical services manager to its growing feed technology science team, which includes expanding in-house resources as well as strategic partnerships with leading universities.
Dr. Anangelina Archile brings a wealth of experience in technical services, including specialized interest and background relevant to agriculture and feed technology.  She will help lead analysis and protocols designed to offer the highest in quality assurance and value to CBS Inc. customers, across the company’s complete product portfolio.  •

Genesus Adds to Canadian Team
Trevor Elyk has joined Genesus Inc., as General Manager – Canada
Trevor recently was a Farm Management Consultant with MNPLLP (formerly Meyers, Norris, Penny) a major tax, accounting and business advisory group. At MNP, Trevor worked with all aspects of the agricultural industry, including intensive livestock, crop production, grain marketing, and consulting to primary producers. At MNP He has worked intensively in the hog industry with organizations such as Canadian Pork Council, Manitoba Pork Council, Maple Leaf, Olymel, and large hog producers across Western Canada. His problem-solving techniques and ability to establish strong client relationships give him the confidence and knowledge to find the best solutions for today’s agriculture operations.
Trevor began his education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness from University of Manitoba, and subsequently earned his Professional Agrologist Designation, and Designation in Supply Chain and Transportation Logistics Management, and Certificate in Logistics.
Prior to joining MNP, he started his career as a Customer Service Representative for Agricore United where he managed inventories, sales, budgeting, contracting, and building relationships with producers. He moved onto the Merchandising, Transportation and Logistics Department where he established and communicated programs, and developed procedures that were used to purchase and ship grain. He worked with the Canadian railways to establish policies and guidelines in shipping grain.   •

There is a high demand for Topigs Norsvin genetics in countries around the world and North America is no exception. From terminal sires to maternal products and the InGene program, producers large and small are seeking to benefit from the Topigs Norsvin genetic program. The increase of market share and demand in Canada and the USA has rapidly surpassed the supply of the high quality, productive females for which Topigs Norsvin is well known.

Western Hog Exchange
Management Changes
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Western Hog Exchange, Brent Moen Chairman was pleased to announce the following recent Management changes at the WHE.
After a Forty Six year career in the Alberta Hog industry, which began July 2, 1969, Ron Landry has announced his retirement from the WHE.  Ron began his career as an employee of the Alberta Hog Producers Marketing Board, which evolved into the Alberta Pork Producers Marketing Board, Alberta Pork and ultimately in 1996 into Western Hog Exchange.
Ron has been a valuable contributor to the WHE and an advocate to Pork Producers in Alberta (and all of Canada) and will be missed by all.  On behalf of the Board, Management, Staff, Shareholders and all Producers, we would like to wish Ron the very best in his retirement.
Effective Monday September 28, Brent Bushell assumed the position of General Manager of Western Hog Exchange.  Brent has a wealth of Business experience in many sectors and is looking forward to the opportunity of working with the Management, Staff, Shareholders and Stakeholders of the Western Hog Exchange.  •
