Randy Rutherford Joins Genesus Team
Genesus is pleased to announce the appointment of Randy Rutherford in the role of Territory Manager for Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Randy is very well known from his roles with Maple Leaf Foods and Cargill Animal Nutrition. He has extensive knowledge in the marketing, production and nutrition aspects of our industry as well as many relationships throughout the prairies.
Randy was born and raised in the Interlake region of Manitoba and operated a grain and hog farm until he joined Maple Leaf in 2001.

Dr. Megan Bergman named Manitoba’s new Chief Veterinary Officer
Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Minister Ron Kostyshyn has announced Dr. Megan Bergman will be Manitoba’s new chief veterinary officer and will lead the province’s animal health and welfare, food safety and biosecurity programs.
Bergman graduated with a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 and then entered clinical practice in Manitoba. In 2006, she joined the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and served in both veterinary and management positions, most recently as Manitoba’s regional director. Bergman has led or been involved in regional and national responses dealing with avian influenza, anthrax, anaplasmosis and bovine tuberculosis. •

Friesen Welcomes New Nutritionist
Michael graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science. He followed this up with a Master of Science Degree, also from the University of Manitoba, majoring in Monogastric Nutrition.
Over the 29 years that Michael has been involved in the western Canadian feed industry, he has provided on-farm nutrition and technical support for many, many producers in the prairie provinces and Montana. He has played a key role in such areas as research, product development and marketing, technical support and training for feed sales staff, on-farm nutrition and technical support, producer technical meetings, quality control & problem solving, and many other aspects of commercial feed manufacture.
Friesen is thrilled to welcome him to the team. •

Andrew Rolfe Joins PIC as Western Canada
Account ManagerPIC is pleased to announce the addition of Andrew Rolfe as an account manager in Western Canada. Andrew joins PIC most recently from Hypor Genetics where he held a sales and technical services position.
Born in Nottinghamshire, England and raised on a mixed grain and hog farm in southwestern Manitoba, Canada, Andrew is a graduate of the School of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba, and has spent his entire career within the livestock sector, in areas such as nutrition, pharmaceuticals, commodities, equipment sales, livestock building design and project management. •

The Industry Lost a Friend and Colleague
The hog industry lost a true friend in mid August. Pat Cox of Innisfail passed away August 14th.
Patrick Cox of Innisfail, Alberta passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness.
He was born and raised on a farm in Bentley, Alberta and worked within the agricultural industry for 30 years.
He had a deep passion for fishing, gardening and antiques. He will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor, and quick wit. •
