Alberta Pork Welcomes New Animal Care & Quality Assurance Coordinator
Alberta Pork is pleased to announce that we have hired a new Quality Assurance Coordinator to replace the recently departed Audrey Cameron. Javier Bahamon was raised in a rural setting in Colombia where he developed an early passion for the swine industry. Since earning a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2001, Javier has worked extensively in agriculture in both the private and public sector, moving to Canada in 2008.
Javier brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to the position. He sees the Canadian Quality Assurance Program as a valuable tool for improving productivity and securing new markets, and he’s excited about working with Alberta producers. •


ITSI Has A Winning Gold Medal Olympic Employe on Staff
ITSI Inc is thrilled to have a Para-Olympic gold medal winning member on its staff.
Dennis Thiessen, a long time employee of ITSI won a Gold Olympic medal in Curling, at the games in Sochi, Russia. Dennis is the ITSI Canada Western Sales Manager and Warehouse Operator and has held this position since the summer of 1996.

Dennis threw in the final game in the 8th end that knocked two of the Russians rocks out of the house and that made the Russians throw in the towel and conceded defeat. We had won the gold. Speaking with Dennis after the games, it is almost without a doubt, that we will see more good things from this team in near future.

Evan Penner Joins the Genesus Team
Genesus is pleased to announce the appointment of Evan Penner in the role of Territory Manager for Manitoba.
Evan brings with him extensive experience in both pig production and animal nutrition. This includes supervision of 4-2500 sow units. Evan’s strong experience will be very valuable to Genesus and our clients.
Evan was born and raised in Southern Manitoba on his family’s swine farm.

Elanco Cook Off
Elanco Technical update and BBQ Cook-Offs were held in both Starbuck MB and Swift Current SK, the festivities took place in mid July. In addition to speakers covering hot topics such as Paylean, Impact of Feeding and Real Facts About Antibiotic Use, the highlight of the meetings was as in the past eight years, the cook offs.
Trent Loos was keynote speaker in both locations, Trent has become a key spokesperson for Elanco and has an Identical message to Elanco’s. It is simply put…Feeding the world through technology, and the Livestock industry’s concern to feeding the growing middle class Today, not in 35 years, and this will be done through Meat, Milk and Eggs and the innovations available today and in the future.
Both locations had strong attedance.
In Starbuck and Swift Current they had 6 feed channel competitors take part in the cook off. Nutrition Partners taking top spot in Starbuck and in Swift Current Standard Nutrition won. •
